Yesterday my friend Jody texted and invited us over for supper. I love gathering with friends, and there’s something so refreshing about spur-of-the-moment plans—they feel more relaxed and genuine.
For me, there’s a certain pressure when I invite people in advance—I feel like I need to have all the bases covered. But when plans come together last minute, that pressure disappears. It feels more relaxed and natural, like I’m welcoming someone into my everyday life without needing to prepare. Maybe spontaneity brings people closer, like family, and I think we could all use more of that in our lives.
