Figs & Peaches

Monday evening, Curtis and I hopped into our VW bus and set off around the neighborhood, sharing figs from our enormous fig tree with friends and even a few lucky strangers on evening strolls. With over 15 pounds of figs to give away, we had plenty to spread the love.

I left the last of them in my colander on a friend's porch (above) while she was out of town, knowing she’d return the next day. To my surprise and delight, when I got home on Wednesday, not only had she returned the colander, but it was filled with peaches and homemade peach jam! (She one upped me!) She has a peach tree at her second home in the Sierra foothills, and let me tell you, these peaches were as good as the finest Georgia peach I’ve ever tasted!

One day, I hope to have a little homestead with fruit trees and a vegetable garden. But until then, I’m very happy with my fig tree and Sandy's peaches!

I hope you're harvesting something wonderful—whether it's fruit, vegetables, or something more ethereal!

love,
Lesley
